How telling!

If true, this story signals a new low point in Canadian politics and brings Stephen Harper's government into disrepute.

In Canadian Law any person has the right to seek legal counsel and remain silent if they are accused of committing a criminal act. Those persons who orchestrated the "In-Out" fiasco have every right to remain silent, after all they may well become "the accused" in this matter. However, the individual campaigns and/or agents in all likelihood would not likely become the accused in a criminal trial, therefore if the linked story is true, why in the world would the Conservative Party do anything that appears to obstruct justice.

In the weeks that followed the startling revelations to this story the Conservatives claimed, "We did nothing wrong." For a group that claims innocence, the suggesting of witnesses to take a pass on providing evidence at a Parliamentary hearing looks a lot like guilt.

Let's hope this story is false in all regards or else maybe we do have a systemic problem within this government.

Enough Already!

The case is quite simple, minister admits error, minister resigns, and that is the end of that!

Maxime Bernier by his own admission broke the rules concerning the security of documents and for that he was punished. His admission cost him his cabinet post, the end! There is absolutely no benefit to anyone to reconvene a parliamentary committee to question Bernier and his ex-girlfriend Ms. Coulliard. Everything that needs to be done and said has been done and said. Foreign Affairs conducted a review of the case, made document handling recommendations and the matter should be over.

Canadians clearly must feel that justice was done. (or in my case overdone) Bernier paid a pretty high price for his breach of security, probably a lot higher than any Liberal would have paid under similar circumstances.

All political parties need to get a grasp on reality and realize that partisan sniping for the sake of sniping will accomplish only one goal, political apathy.

The "Bernier Affair" is over, move on and start acting like elected representatives.

Another sighting!

Big events attract big talents, and the Edmonton Indy was no exception. Sponsors were bringing in celebrities to woo the crowd, pitch their products, and create general goodwill with the masses.

Even the federal Conservatives, Edmonton-Centre riding got into the act, by parachuting star candidate look-a-like Brent Rathgeber from Edmonton-St. Albert, to bolster the incumbent.

Most celebrities need to be pampered, chaperoned, and catered to when making these highly visible guest appearances, not Rathgeber look-a-like. No, the look-a-like candidate for Edmonton-St. Albert has the remarkable ability to go it alone at these type of functions, no fuss, no assistants, no handlers, just him.

Rathgeber look-a-like, was spotted at the conclusion of the big race collapsed on a plastic chair in the Budweiser "Turn 1 Stage" listening to well know Canadian band, "Spirit of the West."

Dressed in a bright two-toned red and white racing shirt, a pair of khaki shorts, and sandals sitting no more than ten feet from the stage, a very tired and emotional Rathgeber look-a-like seemed unable to enthusiastically respond, along with the rest of the crowd, as the band played "The old song" a 1989 hit.

The dancing, singing, jumping, and hollering didn't appear to cause any distress for Rathgeber look-a-like, who appeared deep in thought as he sat on his plastic chair. Rathgeber look-a-like, who's greatest political strength is his ability to block out unnecessary noise when there is a job to do.

Rathgeber look-a-like is no stranger to attending events like the Edmonton Indy by himself, he also owns a single season ticket to the Edmonton Eskimos. "Clearly, he enjoys his own company," said a political observer who spotted the look-a-like at the Edmonton Indy. He went on to say, "he's not hurting anybody sitting there by himself, maybe he just doesn't have any friends."

Or, maybe, the Conservative Party of Canada has recruited candidates that are prepared to sacrifice all to help out another constituency, good work Brent look-a-like.

Anybody hoping to catch a glimpse of a very refreshed Rathgeber look-a-like can do so at Commonwealth Stadium around section "O" during any Eskimo's home game. We always recommend waiting until the 2nd half for the full visual extravaganza.
